Purpose of Establishment
The Japan Poker Business Association (JPBA) was established in August 2025 as a general incorporated association, primarily by existing businesses involved in the poker industry, including event organizers, venue operators, and platform operators.
In recent years, poker has gained attention as a mind sport and as a healthy culture that develops strategic thinking and international exchange beyond the boundaries of entertainment and competition. Alongside the growth of tournament markets in other Asian countries, Japan has also seen an increase in the number of players, diversification of events, and expanded opportunities to participate in international competitions.
At the same time, Japan needs further development of systems and institutions, standardization of industry rules, and improvement of social recognition. For the sustainable development of the industry, it is essential to establish operational standards rooted in legal compliance and to build an environment through public-private cooperation.
JPBA aims to enhance the value of poker as a mind sport and to build a healthy, open industrial foundation through cross-industry collaboration.
Purpose and Activities
As a cross-industry organization, JPBA aims to contribute to the sound development of poker through the following objectives.
- Promoting the healthy development of poker-related businesses and improving the social standing of the industry
- Strengthening cooperation among member businesses and developing the industry foundation
- Cooperating with relevant government agencies, local governments, and parliamentary groups, and making policy recommendations
- Building frameworks that contribute to the quality improvement and standardization of poker events and related activities
To achieve these objectives, JPBA mainly conducts the following activities.
Business Network
Building networks and facilitating information exchange among poker-related businesses.
Policy and Awareness
Conducting research, policy recommendations, and public awareness activities.
Standards and Guidelines
Developing and promoting industry standards and guidelines in cooperation with government agencies and related organizations.
Based on transparency, neutrality, and legal compliance, JPBA will work with stakeholders in Japan and overseas to enhance the cultural and economic value of poker in Japan.
